What kind of things can you help with?
The great thing about hiring a generalist who has experience of working with founders and at early stage start ups is that they have broad knowledge of different areas of the business and can support with many different projects whilst also looking at the overall commercial strategy and how everything interlinks. Who is this for?
Generally we work with early stage solo founders and start ups with small teams, who are up and running but want that extra support without committing to making a full time hire. We can also work with those founders who might be thinking about starting to hire or who already have a small team.
How does it work?
We have 4 different services on offer which we hope cover all the bases. We always suggest you book a connect call first. This allows us to chat and you can ask any questions about what we offer and we can learn all about your business. Prior to this call you will be sent a short prep sheet (‘the sidekick setup.’) This is simply to get your thoughts down on paper and helps us prep for the call so we can make the best out of the hour we have.
What if I’m not sure what I need help with yet?
We love that and many founders come to us knowing there are things they need help with, but not knowing which to prioritise. We can use the connect call to go through all current challenges and look at what can have the biggest impact on the business quickly and cost effectively.
How does the payment work?
Connect & Clarity Calls: Once your session is booked, you’ll receive an invoice, payable at least 24 hours before our call.
Create Projects: You’ll be invoiced for 50% of the agreed price before the project begins, and the remaining 50% upon completion.
Continued Partnerships: For ongoing work, invoices are issued monthly.
Can I book just one session?
Ofcourse! When we set up SideKick, we wanted to provide a service to founders who didn’t want to commit to a long term hire to help them so this is exactly why we exist. We recommend you book a connect call, complete the Sidekick Setup prep sheet and can just use that call as a one off to help you brainstorm with someone external to the business who can support.
What makes you qualified to help?
I have worked directly with founders in small start up teams for over 10 years - first within the world of boutique fitness and since 2021, in the impact tech sector. I have been a Head of Operations, Head of Sales and Growth and Partnerships Lead and worked across account management and customer support - but when you work in these environments you do so much more than what your title suggests. You need to be pro-active and adaptable to the business needs. As a result, you learn so much outside the scope of your job title. This has taught me a huge amount. The nature of this job is to figure out solutions to challenges. There may be things I haven’t done before but I am confident at figuring stuff out, making it work for the needs of the business and looking at how it works for the business as a whole to drive growth.
